As the recession deepens, executives of charitable organizations face growing challenges as they seek to raise money. Much of the advice that is available to nonprofit leaders is too general to make a difference, so The Chronicle is bringing together three veteran fund-raising experts to talk about what has worked in past downturns — and how to think in new ways about a financial crisis unlike any other in recent history.
At this special webinar, participants will get great answers from experts in the field to these questions:
• How do we find the individuals, foundations, and corporations most likely to support our cause?
• Should we delay our plans for a major capital drive?
• Is it wise to cancel our fund-raising benefit?
• How can we lower our fund-raising costs?

April 3, 2009 Planned Giving and Legacy gifts – As a nonprofit leader we work on many short-term funding solutions, but often put off creating a plan for seeking planned giving gifts. As we struggle each day to bring in enough funding to our organizations, what legacy are we building for the leaders that come after us? What if our “legacy gift” was stable, long-term funding for the organization and next nonprofit leader? Learn what planned giving is, how to incorporate this into your development plans and how to access donors who want to give this kind of gift. There are great tools available for this kind of fundraising and we will provide you with many of them at this class.
