COMMUNITY EVENTS:

National Philanthropy Day - Call for Nominations

*NOTE: A previous email referenced a nomination form with a deadline of June 20; the original deadline was July 18, but this has been extended to Friday, August 29. The NPD planning committee apologies for the confusion!

Each year we celebrate the donors, volunteers and fundraising professionals who make the Valley such a great place. Save the date: This year's National Philanthropy Day celebration will take place November 18, and will include morning workshops along with the awards luncheon. Additional information about the day can be found at afp-cv.org/philanthropy_day.

Two nomination forms are linked below—the first allows AFP members to nominate an outstanding philanthropist, outstanding fundraising professional or one of six additional categories, while the second is for the Spirit of Philanthropy award, which is open to anyone in the community:

Dear Friends of the Bard,

The play has been rehearsed, the set is built, the costumes have been made and the lights are focused.  The Woodward Shakespeare Festival is ready to begin its 4th Season of Shakespeare in the Park.

Beginning Thursday, June 26 audiences can laugh with Viola, the shipwrecked heroine of Twelfth Night.  Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday Evenings from June 26 - July 26 you, your family and your friends can come see a full-scaled production of Shakespeare for FREE.

We've moved down the way from the Amphitheater in Woodward Park but now we have an even better place to be part of what is becoming a Valley tradition.  As part of the Group Activities Area, WSF's Theater in the Glen is an intimate space for our outdoor productions of Shakespeare's plays.

Come and be part of our 2008 Season beginning with Twelfth Night tomorrow and Hamlet beginning August 14.  We look forward to seeing you there.

"The Nonprofit Facility Project: Dare We Even Consider It?"

From drop-in centers to theaters, from classrooms to clinics, all nonprofits need some space. This three-hour presentation is designed for nonprofit organizations that are thinking about (possibly considering, maybe, sometime in the future) getting new office and/or program space.

  • What do you need to be thinking about NOW to undertake a facility project in the future?
  • Is your organization ready, willing, and able?
  • What does the entire process look like?
You will also learn about the various analyses you need to perform to get your project off on the right track: space needs, lease vs. buy, and project feasibility.
